Possibly: Salmonella outbreaks have been sourced back to peanut butter in the past, so it's certainly possible that peanut can carry the bacteria.

Unsure: There was a very serious Salmonella outbreak from peanut products (peanut butter) that killed 9 people and caused illness in another 714 became ill. See: https://www.cnn.com/2015/09/20/us/peanut-butter-salmonella-trial/index.html. However, I don't know if peanuts straight out of a shell are contaminated with Salmonella.
