How do you get rid of salmonella?

Resolves most time: Salmonella in the intestines is usually self limiting and most people get better without any treatment. If the diarrhea is severe and pt is dehydrated or ill then antibiotics can be used. If the bacteria gets into the blood stream or another organ then it can be serious and those people are treated in the hospital. Most people clear it without meds. Probiotics may help as well.

You don't: In most cases, you don't. You just let it run its course, and it goes away. In certain cases (people who are old, sick, immunosuppressed, or have infection outside the GI tract), it's treated with antibiotics.

Supportive care: Antibiotics may prolong the course of the illness for uncomplicated cases, so generally fluids, electrolytes, and food are the prescribed regimen. Your body's immune system will rid you of the bug.
