A member asked:

Can chest infections and asthma be related?

Yes: Many patients with asthma are prone of more infections involving the chest because they have difficulty clearing mucus from the bronchial tubes. When it gets "stuck" it is prone to becoming secondarily infected with bacteria. The correct treatment will usually greatly improve on the problem.

Absolutely: Viral infections are common triggers of asthma. In young children, asthma attacks can often be confused for pneumonia on chest x ray.
