Confusing answer: Usually cataract surgery is done once. The cataract is removed for ever. Sometimes an implant needs to be removed. More frequently, the clear tissue holding the implant becomes cloudy. This is often incorrectly described as the cataract "coming back." in fact, the cloudy tissue can be remedied with a laser...But not actual invasive surgery.

Vision change : Secondary cataracts cause vision changes similar to primary cataracts. When these problems begin to bother th patient, laser surgery easily fixes it.

Membrane : A small percentage of patients can develop a membrane behind their lens implant that can be removed with a laser in clinic. Some refer this as a secondary cataract but it does not require the same type of surgery.
