Will being out in the bright sunlight without shades after cataract surgery cause damage?

Not usually: Vast majority of implants have uv blocking material. It's really just a matter of comfort and glare.

No: No. You may be sensitive to light and uncomfortable in bright environments early postop but if you do not wear sunglasses it does not cause any damage.

Depends on IOL: Depending on the intraocular lens placed, most IOLS have UV protection. Still sunglasses are recommended to protect macula as light can theoretically pass round lens optic or through a light colored iris. More info: eyedoc2020@blogspot.com
