Multi-dimensional Rx: Autism manifests in various forms, probably has various causes, & is extremely complex to treat. Behavioral & social interventions are important, & increasingly psychoactive medications play an important role. These meds need be carefully selected & titrated for the individual, possibly addressing such features as anxiety, anger, mood, hyperactivity, etc. See a true expert& get the right rx.

By rote, repetition: Intensive, repetive behavioral & educational therapies (e.g., aba, denver model) are effective in increasing compliance & adaptive behaviors. Because lack of theory of mind, understanding that others can have a different point of view, underlies all autistic disorders, even social skills therapy relies on rules & repetition, because folks with autism have well- or over-developed rote memory.
