Chronic & treatable: Adhd is the best-studied psychiatric disorder in children and adolescents. Controversies aside, there is strong evidence that it is a real, chronic, potentially severely impairing disorder for which a number of interventions, including medications & behavioral treatments, can markedly ease symptoms but do not "cure" the disorder. Also, 2/3 of the time, other disorders coexist that complicat rx.
