No: There is no evidence that medications used to treat adhd lead to suicidal thinking or acts in children or adolescents. However, strattera (atomoxetine) is a medication approved for adhd that is more related to antidepressants, and as such it has been given a warning of suicidal ideation as it is grouped with that kind of medicine.

No: None of the standard medications for adhd are associated with suicidality in young children. Atomoxetine (strattera) has been associated with a slight increase in suicidation in adolescents and adults, however. Any time a new medication is started the parents or the patient should be in close contact with the doctor, communicating any concern that arises.

Yes: As mentioned, strattera (atomoxetine) can increase the risk of suicide. Some children with adhd symptoms are prescribed antidepressants even though they are not recommended for children because of the increased suicide risk.
