Have it checked: If there is a significant change in a mole you should get it checked. Worrisome signs for skin cancer are irregular borders, bleeding, different colors within a mole, black moles. Sometimes pregnancy will cause a flat mike to become raised.

Have it looked at: Most of the time moles go through their own life cycle, and may start flat but gradually become raised over time. However, a sudden change in growth, color, or of any kind always raises a red flag to have it looked at. Sometimes raised moles get irritated or caught on clothing or jewelry, and your dermatologist or other doctor can help determine if it should be removed.
