No: Encephalitis is and acute inflammation of the brain generally caused by a virus or bacteria. It can also occur with automimmune disease like lupus. Creutzfeld- jacob disease is caused by a very small protein called a prion. It causes a rapidly progressive dementia znd death due to neuronal cell death. It can come from tainted meat("mad cow disease") , occur sporadically or rarely be inheritted.
