Yes.: Creutzfeldt-jakob disease (cjd) is an incurable, degenerative disease of the brain caused by incorrectly folded proteins. As the brain cells are destroyed, the brain tissue can shrink and become atrophied. Yes: Cjd destroys the brain tissue. When the brain tissue shrinks, the volume of the cerebrospinal fluid systems has to increase to compensate for the volume loss (head/ skull stay the same size, intracranial volume will not change).
