Probobly not: You should be tested for bowel infection or parasites if you have become ill with gastrointestinal symptoms. You may have had contact with other animals or travel? Blood and stool tests are recommended. Also, take a complete list of your medications and supplements to the medical appointment for review.

Stools light-colored: Bile & your gut's bacterial flora account in large part for color & volume of stool. Absence of bile results in pale (acholic) stool. Lots of other things also affect stool appearance: ingested foods, medications (peptobismol, antacids), swallowed blood or bleeding from gut, infection/antibiotics, inflammation, maldigestion, & the amount of mucus mixed with stool, as well as transit time of food.

A 20-year-old female asked:
Just had white stool.I know that can indicate serious issues.Do I need to see a doc ASAP or wait to see if it keeps happening?Could it bejust a fluke?

Any other symptoms?: White pale stool may reflect a significant biliary obstruction or profound liver disease (often with accompanying jaundice). Or the white may be just a coating of mucus (a colon lubricant) which when present in large volume may signal problems with colon spasm (ie. Irritable bowel syndrome), partial obstruction, infection, and even sloughed colon lining due to a variety of diseases. Get checked.

See your MD: 34 year old lady with concern of pale-colored stool.
You should absolutely visit your MD please. Pale colored stools can indicate problems with bile, which is a substance elaborated by your liver cells and stored in your gall bladder.Bile is used in the absorption of fat & bile contains bilirubin, a waste prod of red blood cells that makes stool green/brown. See your MD for a full exam. Good luck.
