How young?: Folks with genetic defects such as xeroderma pigmentosum start getting lethal skin cancers in early childhood. Basal cell and squamous carcinomas are generally seen in middle and old age in the sun-exposed and are easily treated, but i've known of plenty of folks in their twenties who have died of malignant melanoma -- it's the 2nd most common cancer age 15-25 & most common 26-30.
