Are there acute and chronic forms of creutzfeldt-jakob disease?

No: This is an awful and fortunately extremely rare form of a deadly disease. Cjd is thought to be caused by a protein called a prion. The long and short of it....There is no cure.

No, just subacute: Once started this prion infection steadily progresses to inevitable demise, and seems to affect mainly middle aged adults. So truly a fairly rapid course over a few months. If mad cow disease, that is more indolent and slower, and may even involve kids, but that is a different type of prion infection with a longer course. Unfortunately, both problems have limited treatment.
