Urologic Surgeon: If a kidney tumor is identified before the cancer has spread, the patient is best-served by seeing a urologist with expertise in kidney surgery, preferably partial nephrectomy. If the cancer has spread, an oncologist can give medications that delay progression. An interventional radiologist may be asked to treat the tumor by either freezing or heating it.
