A member asked:

Is heartburn common when using chlorhexidine gluconate oral rinse?

No: Chlorhexadine rinses remove bacteria known to cause periodontal disease...Hiwever, the oral/pharyngeal cavity maintains a delicate balance, it's possible that this balance has been disrupted allowing another bacteria to take hold. Check with a GI specialist for bacterial infiltrate from esophagus/upper stomach.

No: It commonly causes a build-up of brown stain on the teeth, but since it isn't swallowed, you shouldn't feel any heartburn.
