Vassal et al 2012 showed that alcohol-induced suppression of testosterone occurred predominantly in men and increases in Estradiol occurred predominantly in women. It is known circulating levels of testosterone and Estradiol deeply affect adipocyte proliferation, differentiation, and fat mass distribution.
