Is it safe to take activated charcoal pills if i'm on the nuva ring?

Dr. Bac Nguyen
Family Medicine 23 years experience
Should be fine: Activated charcoal is not absorbed--it is designed to bind other chemical in your stomach/intestine in case of excess drugs/chemical ingestion/od and carry it out to the outside world without being absorbed into your body. Nuvaring use does not use the gastrointestinal tract and so you should be fine. If you have other concerns, consult doc. Good luck.
