A member asked:

I'm 24... is it reasonable to try and lose 30 pounds in a month?

Probably not: It is possible to lose a rapid amount of weight in a short period of time (most notably with medical problems such as cancer, hiv), but for someone interested in losing weight for health/fitness reasons, it is certainly not recommended. To lose weight and maintain weight loss, it is recommend that you lose no more than 1-2 lbs (0.5-1 kg)/week.

Wright: Not sure what your current weight is, if you have any medical problems, or if u r on any medications. Normally, average weight loss of 5 pounds is healthy, but check with your doctor about the other issues if u have them.
