Yes: Gallbladder stones (cholelithiasis) are typically detectable on ultrasound, sometimes better than ct. Very small stones may, however, be missed. At time of exam, the gallbladder may rarely be obscured by stomach gas and not well seen on ultrasound. A small stone lodged in the gallbladder neck or if already displaced into the bile ducts may not be visible on ultrasound.
