Low Hormones: Opioids such as Methadone and morphine seem to depress the gonadotropic hormones coming from the pituitary. They stimulate sex hormones production when they are normal but can be severely limited with chronic opioid use. The result can be low testosterone or estrogenic hormones. These levels can be tested and supplemented if necessary.
