There are hundreds: of drugs that have drug-drug interactions with methadone. Moderate difficulty mat occur with any other opioid and or any benzodiazepine like Xanax (alprazolam).

Too long a list: but it is not that they aren't compatible with methadone, but rather that they may interfere with its metabolism, either increasing or decreasing methadone levels, thus either increasing potential toxicity and side effects, or decreasing effectiveness and causing withdrawal. Increased methadone levels may also increase chance of heart arrhythmia. Any sedating drug adds to methadone SE's, esp benzo
