PTSD: Elavil (amitriptyline) is an old tricyclic antidepressant with sedating and drying effects (dry mouth, dry skin, constipation, dry eyes) and cardiovascular side effects. Other safer medications are preferred for youngsters with ptsd. Consult your physician.
