Good hygiene & meds: If you have enough room for the wisdom teeth & the pain is coming from the eruption of those teeth through the gums, then taking some otc pain meds may be helpful. Brushing around the partially erupted teeth also helps keep inflammation down, which will reduce bleeding, swelling & pain. If not enough room for the wisdom teeth or if they may damage your 2nd molars, then extractions may be necessary.

Rinse and ice: A warm salt water rinse passively (not vigorous) passed through the mouth can alleviate some post-surgical pain, as well as keep the tissue healthy and encourage healing. Icing the surgical areas is also a good idea to reduce inflammation and pain, 10 minutes on, then ten minutes off, repeated as necessary.
