Ortho, Rheum: Orthopedic surgeons treat joint problems that are more mechanical in nature. They use surgery, arthroscopy, injections, pt, and a few medications. Rheumatologists treat joint problems that are more inflammatory or systemic in nature. They use injections, pt, and a wider variety of medications but do not perform surgery or arthroscopy.
