Review: Typically the 1st appt is "record taking" (assuming you've already met/consulted with the orthodontist) and the 2nd appt is a consultation/review of findings and treatment planning.

Start: In our office, the first appointment is the consultation, and the second appointment is when records are taken (molds, photographs and any radiographs not taken at the first visit), the braces are placed, and all instructions for proper hygiene and appliance care are given. So you are officially an orthodontic patient at the second visit. Best wishes to you!

Ortho: Oral hygiene is checked. Old alastics are removed and replaced. Sometimes a new wire is placed. Much easier than the first appointment. You may want to take some pain meds before going in for the adjustment.

Depends: Orthodontics is not a commodity, it's a highly specialized individualized service. 1st appt, 2nd appt, 14th appt, 33rd appt, will vary according to the individualized treatment protocol in your orthodontist's office and your individual treatment requirements.
