In name only.: Sarcomas are tumors arising from connective tissue, such as muscle, bone, and fat cells. Uterine sarcoma starts in the connective tissue derived cells of the uterus, osteosarcoma from those cells in bone. They are separate entities. The more common cancers arise from epithelial tissues and are termed carcinomas.
