A member asked:

What difference is there between nasonex (mometasone) and flonase?

Mainly structural: Both Nasonex (mometasone furoate) and Flonase (fluticasone propionate) are corticosteroids used to reduce inflammation in the nose. They differ mainly in their chemical structure but otherwise act very similarly in the body. They also both cause similar side effects (mainly irritation and nosebleeds). Another difference is that Flonase is available in a generic form.

Similar: Nasonex and Flonase are both nasal steroids but the steroid in Nasonex is mometasone and the steroid in Flonase is fluticasone. Both are effective for allergic rhinitis. Nasonex is scent-free. Fluticasone is available as a generic.
