Bronchiolitis: In a child under the age of 2 this is commonly due to respiratory syncytial virus infection, but may be due to a wide variety of other viruses, rarely to bacterial infection. It causes inflammation of the smaller tubules leading into and providing air to the lungs, and may impair breathing capacity, requiring supplemental oxygen, and other supportive measures. I pray she is better soon.
