Moderately safe: Hydrocodone in quantities of up to 5mg every 4 hours have been found to have minimal effect on the breast milk. Observation for side effects like sedation & constipation are encouraged. Some authors suggest feeding the infant just prior to dosing to limit direct effect.

NO: Almost all narcotics are passed through the mother's milk to her breastfeeding infant which will cause drowsiness or worse to the infant. Do not breast feed if you have taken hydrocodone within 4 hours of the feeding, and preferably not at all.
