Opposite effect 4 u: The most common side effect of hydrocodone is that it makes you sleepy, but it sounds like you are having an idiosyncratic reaction. Rather then making you sleepy it's having the opposite effect. Nothing you can do but avoid it prior to going to bed. Maybe you'd have better luck with a different pain medicine

Effects Vary: Narcotics have a different effect for different people. Some people will get sleepy from the medication, others get hyper. It sounds like this may not be the best medication for you to be on. Talk to your doctor about it.
