What are the effects of taking depression medication? how fast do they work? how soon can you stop them?

Antidepressants: Work by rebalancing the neurotransmitters in the brain. In general, they take about 4 weeks to work, but it can take more or less time. For full recovery for a first episode of depression, you will need to stay on the medication for a year.
