Very difficult: It is hard to answer the question because it is non-specific. Popping of the ear may be a physiological phenomenon. For example, swallowing alone can almost always be felt as a popping sensation in the ear. The swallow causes the muscle that opens the eustachian tube (auditory tube) to open and gases from the back of the nose equalize pressure in the middle ear. See ENT for specific diagnosis.
