After drinking a lot is it common to urinate 2 or 3 times to empty your bladder?

Not necessarily.: Drinking a lot of fluids and/or drinking alcohol, will result in you creating more urine. This will cause you to go more frequently, and 3 or more times per hour is common. However, if it takes 2 or 3 sessions to actually empty your bladder, this may be a sign of urinary retention -- either your bladder is unable to expel urine efficiently, or the bladder is obstructed.
