Is cetirizine helpful for children with asthma and running nose?

Antihistamine: Certirzine is an antihistamine and will help the symptoms of allery and runny nose. You must continue your action plan and your asthma meds.

Allergy med: Cetirizine may be helpful in a child who has a runny nose that is due to allergic rhinitis. It is an antihistamine that will help block histamine production when a child is exposed to an allergen. It will not help during an asthma attack, nor will it truly prevent an attack from happening. Inhaled corticosteroids and leukotriene antagonists are used for asthma prevention.
