Does teething cause diarrhea?

Maybe: Scientific research says it does not, but I have seen babies who repeatedly have loose bowel movements when teething. Can not prove the realrionship however, so it remains confusing.

No: Some anecdotal evidence suggests low-grade fevers accompany teething, but no known relationship with any GI problems including diarrhea exists.

Perhaps: The literature says "no, " but it happens so often that perhaps we just have not nailed down the physiologic reason yet. Keep baby hydrated. If diarrhea persists call your pediatrician.
