How is acid reflux treated?

See below: Dietary modifications, weight loss, avoiding caffeine, nicotine and late meals helps. In addition acid suppressing medications such as h2 blockers (zantac, etc.) and proton pump inhibitors (prilosec, nexium, (esomeprazole) etc) are frequently used.

Changes, meds: Anti-reflux measures that you should consider include eating smaller meals, avoiding excesses of alcohol, avoiding foods that trigger your reflux and elevating the head of your bed. Medicines that help include ones that target histamine (ranitidine, eg) and those that target the proton pump (omeprazole, eg).

Couple ways: With lifestyle modification (try a web search for simple tips) also with prescription medication as well as over the counter meds. You may wish to try an over the counter medication and if no improvement see your dr for further evaluation and treatment.
