A member asked:

What are reasons for an increased rbc count?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

High RBC count: A high RBC count in an anemic patient is usually due to thalassemia. A high RBC count in a patient with a high hemoglobin is due to polycythemia, and must be investigated by a hematologist to determine why the polycythemia exists.
