Sperm inserted: A semen sample is processed in a lab to remove semen and just leave the sperm. The processed sperm is drawn up into a thin tube (called a catheter) which is inserted through the cervix and into the uterus. The sperm are then injected at the top of the uterus near the Fallopian tubes at time of ovulation. This increases the odds of pregnancy in appropriate candidates for insemination.

Sperm into uterus: Iui is process of putting prepared sperm in the uterine cavity. Used to treat poor mucus, mild male factor, unexplained infertility-ui, single women or lesbians and sometimes when couple cannot have sex themselves. It works but less than natural intercourse in fertile couples. Often we add superovulation. Works best when ui and normal tests. Best wishes.
