Ankle fusion: Ankle fusion is a procedure whereby the cartilaginous surfaces of the talus and the tibia are excised, opposed and fixation is placed to hold the two bones in alignment. This procedure is performed when there is significant arthritis or deformity that does not respond to conservative care.

Ankle fusion: It's a surgical procedure where the joint surface is resected than locked together with screws, rods or plates. This allows for no motion across a painful joint.
