Not much: While a meniscus that is torn can sometimes tear a little further, the tears can also stabilize and settle into a position that no longer causes pain or problems. A meniscus tear that doesn't cause pain is one that should be left alone. A meniscus tear itself does not cause arthritis or any other problems. Let pain be your indicator and guide.
