The medial meniscus is located on the inside part of the joint and is subject to much greater forces than the lateral (or outside) meniscus cartilage. Truncation and attenuation refer to chronic degenerative changes in the shape of the meniscus. These changes alone are rarely enough reason to consider a knee arthroscopy. However, that may change with time.
