What can you expect when you go to the orthopedist for first visit?

Exam and Films: You must be going because of pain or an injury. You will get an exam- but also you most likely will need x-rays as the orthopedist does specialize in bone and joint care. If you already have films- be sure to take them.

Orthopedist: An orthopedic surgeon will take a history of your problem first and then do a comprehensive musculoskeletal exam to diagnose what is wrong with you. The doctor may then order diagnostic tests including a x-ray or a MRI or ct scan is needed.
