A member asked:

Doc said laminectomy could help but could severe sharp pain be unrelated to the spine?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on source: Sharp back or leg pain can be caused by a variety of conditions. If there is an abnormality on x-rays/ct/mri that explains the symptoms, then surgery (laminectomy) might help. You should be reasonably certain that surgery will help the majority of your pain before undergoing the procedure.
