Other way around.: A baker's cyst is a large synovial pouch that forms in the posterior (back) portion of the knee; this occurs because there is already some damage in the knee itself (osteoarthritis, meniscus or ligament tear, trauma). You may not be old, but your knee is. The cysts themselves can be drained or injected with cortisone & may resolve, but underlying destruction of knee joint is not reversible.
