Ask your doc: Bone takes 6-8 weeks to heal. However, it all depends on what your particualr problem is, how well you are healing etc. So this is patient dependent and only your doctor should answer this question.

Depends: The cast can be either walking or non-walking cast. If the cast is non-walking, it is not meant to have weight born upon it, and doing so will damage the cast. Additionally, if the orthopod has done surgery, you will want to wait until the surgery or fracture heals enough that the doctor is comfortable with you walking on it.

When ortho says so: Many types of fractures can be walked on, however the cast must be made for walking. A regular cast needs build up and a rubber none skid tread of some sort applied. There are many different types. Ask your ortho guy when you can walk on it and a walking cast will be applied if he says so.
