Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura patients who do not respond to pretnizon (steriods); what do you do next?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Immunoglobulins: For patients with itp that has not responded to steroids such as Prednisone there are still effective therapies. Often an infusion of normal antibodies (immunoglobulins or ivig) is used. Other therapies can include an antibody against the patients immune system cells called rituximab. Removing the spleen can be used sometimes. There are specific platelet drugs for patients with chronic itp.
