Rarely deadly: The risk of dying from a complication of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (itp) is fairly low. Death, if it occurs, is usually related to a bleeding event such as bleeding in the brain. The general estimates are that the risk of death is <1%.

Does anyone know the reasons for idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura?

Not really: The reason people get idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (itp) is not clear. There are associations with viral infections and some immune system disorders but there does not seem to be an inciting reason for the majority of patients.
