Months!: The hepatitis a virus is very sturdy and can live outside the body for months. It survives the body's very acid gut environment, can live through freezing temperatures. However, boiling or cooking food/ liquids will kill the hepatitis a virus. Nonetheless, in america the incidence is decreasing, probably due to increased rates of immunization.
