A member asked:

Could being hit in the back damage you?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: If there is a direct blow to the spine, besides soft tissue (skin, muscle, ligament) injury, you can sustain fracture(s) of the posterior bony elements of the spine. With higher energy impact, the injury can be so severe that the spinal canal can be compromised causing temporary and/or permanent neurologic damage.
